Unleashing the Potential of Plastic Clamps

  • PICOCLAMP serves as a disposable clamp, used to temporarily stop bleeding from microscopic vessels. It is made of PEEK, a super engineering plastic.

    Today, many disposable products are used in medical treatments to prevent infections, to reduce costs, and to enhance overall efficiency.

    When we started developing PICOCLAMP, most hemostatic clamps were made of metal and designed for multiple times. While these metal clamps exhibited strength, they necessitated washing after each use, consequently posing concerns on hygiene. The development of PICOCLAMP centered around the creation of a disposable hemostatic clamp possessing the strength similar to that of metal clamps.

  • Our initial phase involved the exploration of materials suitable for the clamp. Plastic-based clamps, paled in comparison to their metal counterparts in terms of strength. What we found was PEEK: a super engineering plastic. Clamp using PEEK is strong and can clamp without deformation.

    Our next phase was building the manufacturing process of PEEK clamps. Processing resin was necessary, which was a new challenge for a company which specializes in metal processing. We constructed the manufacturing process from the beginning, and finally created a system to ensure a consistent supply. Adversities were surmounted through unwavering determination, leading to the successful launch of PICOCLAMP. This accomplishment was fostered by our company's environment, which encourages employees to embrace challenges and push their boundaries.

    Since its introduction, PICOCLAMP has garnered immense appreciation from medical practitioners for its innovative design as a novel type of clip. The development commercialization of PICOCLAMP is not the end of our development in PEEK products; we eagerly envision employing both PEEK and the processing methodologies garnered during PICOCLAMP's development in our forthcoming product innovations.
